The wards are very well staffed with Doctors, Regs, and PAs. The Regs are approachable and often carry a lot of work load. The SHOs are also very helpful. Workload varies on a daily basis however staying organised and having a list of jobs to do for each patient can be useful. If there's jobs that are difficult or tricky to do, then the regs and SHOs help out as well. The workload can be a bit more on the weekends or if you are in general specialities as compared to a niche speciality. The workload also depends on the number of F1s and F2s that are working that day but usually there will always be a good supportive team happy to help. As an F1, you are expected to carry the bleep and you might get bleeped for discharges, prescribing or reviewing a patient but even amongst busy schedules, there is protected teaching time each week and we are encouraged to attend teaching. So overall workload is not a lot provided you are organised and distribute the jobs between your team.
